Expertise in Clinical Trials

UC Davis clinical research teams excel in a number of disease areas. We invite clinical trial sponsors to consider UC Davis for trials in the following areas:

What's New?
CTSA Pharmaceutical Assets Portal to be topic of Presentation
Kate Marusina, Ph.D., MBA, Manager, Industry Alliances, University of California Davis will be presenting at the Drug Repositioning Summit. The summit will be held October 13-14, 2009 at the Hyatt Harborside Hotel in Boston, MA. The purpose of the CTSA Pharmaceutical Assets Portal is to forge relationships with the pharmaceutical/biotech industry with the intent to facilitate the transfer of the previously “shelved” investigational drugs and biologics for academic research. The Portal would be used to “match” academic research with pharmaceutical assets that may be useful in elucidating disease mechanisms or for discovery of new uses in clinical treatment. The Portal is the first systematic, large scale effort to improve information exchange between the 38-member Academic Consortium and the pharma industry regarding discontinued drugs and biologics. This effort aims to expand the participation of the academic scientists in drug repositioning. The marriage of the academic and commercial goals would undoubtedly result in an increased number of approved drugs for new indications, and thus in considerable public benefit.

CTSA Pharmaceutical Assets Portal

UC Davis leads an NCRR-funded effort to develop a Portal that would be used to facilitate information exchange between CTSA-affiliated investigators and the pharmaceutical industry. The Portal would be used to “match” researchers with investigational drugs and/or biologics that may be useful in elucidating disease mechanisms and/or new uses for clinical treatment.

If you are interested in learning whether investigational compounds (i.e. those that have been previously tested in humans) are available for your research focus please participate in the survey at http://www.ctsapharmaportal.org/. Your participation in this survey will contribute to a better understanding of industry interactions, transferring or in-licensing of compounds, and lay the groundwork for the Pharma Assets Portal which may result in the development of new research partnerships and access to important clinical grade compounds valuable for your research.

You will also be given an option for inclusion in the Portal project. If you agree, your contact information and survey responses may be shared with other Portal participants, participating pharmaceutical companies, and may be used to create collaborative research groups and facilitate compound transfer. Please note that providing your contact information is voluntary.

To take the survey now, or for additional information, please visit: www.ctsapharmaportal.org or contact Kate Marusina
