Department of Neurology
The Department of Neurology at the University of California, Davis, is a leading program that combines clinical and basic science research into the functioning of the brain and nervous system with clinical care for people with neurological and neurodegenerative disorders.
The department’s 48-member faculty includes some of the world’s leading neuroscientists, who work to expand our knowledge of the causes of such challenging conditions as Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s and Huntington’s diseases. The department also includes physicians who treat both adults and children with neurological conditions, and, through clinical trials, offers cutting-edge diagnostic imaging technologies and medication trials for complex disease conditions, to speed new treatments to patients with neurological conditions.
Basic science research endeavors range from cognitive neuroscience to molecular physiology to the use of microarray technologies to create genetic profiles of strokes. The Department of Neurology at UC Davis works with partners throughout the larger UC Davis community and with neurological science researchers around the world to broaden our understanding of the origins of neurological and neurodegenerative disorders, to improve the lives of people living with these conditions, now and in the future.
