Obstetrics is the name for the medical specialty involving pregnancy and birth. It encompasses prenatal and postnatal care for women and their babies. Gynecology is the branch of medicine that includes examination, diagnosis, and medical and surgical treatment of conditions that afflict the reproductive systems of women.
The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology offers an extensive array of inpatient and outpatient evaluative and therapeutic programs. The department’s specialists offer genetic counseling for high-risk pregnancies, male and female infertility counseling and treatment, and assistance in managing menopause.
